Tremor shakes northeastern Iranian city

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook vicinity of Quchan in northeastern Iranian province of Razavi Khorasan early on Monday, APA reports citing IRNA.

According to the state Seismological Center affiliated with the Institute of Geophysics of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 08:32 hours local time (04:02 GMT.)

The tremor was epicentered in an area located at 37.08 degrees latitude and 58.86 degrees longitude.

It is said that the quake has also been felt by most of the provincial cities including Mashhad.

According to remarks made by the governor of Quchan, no damage has caused by the quake.

Amin Reza Meraati underlined that people have poured out onto the streets after the earthquake.

Further, he expressed that crisis management headquarters in Quchan is on high alert to deal with any possible event.

The earthquake happened in an area 30 km of Quchan.
