Ankara: An international event is being held in Trkiye with the participation of media representatives from nearly 50 countries as part of the project on extreme journalism, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Ankara reports. The main objective of the project – supported by the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate and the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program – is to develop curricula and content for an extreme journalism training course, as well as to prepare training guidelines for media professionals.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ali Hamza Pahlavan, Head of the Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) of the Turkish Ministry of Interior, spoke about the importance of extreme journalism. Burhaneddin Duran, head of the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration, recalled the February 6 earthquake and emphasized the importance of combating disinformation. Duran stated, ‘We continue our work to develop extreme journalism, because during the period of the February 6 earthquake, we encountered shortcomings in this area. During the earthquake, we identified disinformation and communicated accurate information to the public, and ensured that local and foreign journalists reached the scene.’

Within the framework of the project, a book prepared in five languages in accordance with emergency response requirements will be presented, and a training panel will be held. The event will continue with discussions, aiming to enhance the capacity of media professionals in handling extreme situations effectively.
