The declaration, signed during the fourth meeting of health ministers, encompasses the adoption of the 2024 action plan for healthcare cooperation, the establishment of a Unified Medical Scientific Space, and various agreements aimed at standardizing medical education and patient data exchange across the member and observer nations. According to Trend News Agency, the newly endorsed declaration outlines several key initiatives, including the green light for the 2024 action plan by the OTS working group on healthcare cooperation. This action plan is set to spearhead advancements in health services and foster integrated scientific research among the member states. It also marks the inception of the Unified Medical Scientific Space, designed to facilitate the sharing of scientific knowledge and resources, enhancing the collective medical capabilities of the OTS nations. Furthermore, the declaration underlines the importance of harmonizing medical education standards and the cross-border exchange of medical data on patient health. It proposes the development of unified standards for digital healthcare, which will be aligned with the national legislation of the member states and observers. This initiative is expected to improve the efficiency and security of healthcare data management across the region. Additionally, the agreement includes the signing of the "Protocol of intent to establish the Turktransplant System," aimed at boosting organ donation and transplantation across the OTS member states. This system will likely increase the availability of organs for transplantation, potentially saving many lives. Moreover, memoranda of understanding between higher medical educational institutions were signed, setti ng the stage for enhanced academic collaborations and exchanges. These agreements are poised to elevate the quality of medical training and research, benefiting future generations of healthcare professionals within the Turkic states. The meeting, jointly organized by the OTS and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health, also set the stage for the next roundtable of the health ministers to be held in Kazakhstan. The OTS, formerly known as the Turkic Council, continues to strive for greater cooperation and unity among Turkic nations, with the General Secretariat based in Istanbul, Trkiye.
