Nakhchivan: As you know, the Great Victory holds an important place in Turkish history and is one of the key stages of Trkiye's War of Independence. Following this victory, the Turkish army advanced as far as Izmir and liberated Trkiye's territory from enemy occupation, Trkiye's Consul General in Nakhchivan Asip Kaya said in an interview with journalists, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kaya highlighted the critical support received from Azerbaijan during Trkiye's War of Independence. He emphasized that the Azerbaijani government provided significant assistance, particularly in the supply of oil and fuel, as well as in the economic sphere. The deep-rooted relations between the Grand National Assembly of Trkiye and the Azerbaijani government were also underlined, noting Azerbaijan's opening of an embassy in Ankara at that time. Kaya expressed ongoing gratitude for this support.

He further noted the broader impact of Trkiye's War of Independence, which inspired national awakening among peoples living under colonial rule. Kaya remarked on the historic significance of August 30 Victory Day, not only for the Turkish people but for many others who sought freedom.

During the interview, the Consul General expressed gratitude to the guests who celebrated with them and reflected on his tenure in Nakhchivan. Having served there for approximately four years, Kaya spoke of his efforts to strengthen relations between Trkiye and Nakhchivan, expressing confidence that his successor will continue this progress. He expressed a personal connection to the region, being from Igdir, and stated his ongoing emotional ties to Nakhchivan.

Kaya also mentioned his anticipation for the opening of the Zangezur Corridor, a project he hopes to witness. Although he did not see its completion during his term, he expressed a commitment to be present for its opening, regardless of his location. He concluded by thanking his Nakhchivan colleagues and the community for their support during his service.
