Ankara: Trkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, has proposed the ‘Caspian’ initiative to strengthen ties within the Turkic world through energy cooperation, APA reports. The initiative aims to leverage the Caspian Sea’s strategic position for energy distribution, particularly through the ‘Green Energy Corridor’ project. This project focuses on channeling electricity generated from renewable energy sources in Central Asia to the western shores of the Caspian, facilitating energy delivery to Europe via Trkiye.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Bayraktar highlighted collaborative efforts with Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Bulgaria to advance this initiative. Additionally, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have formalized agreements to support the project. The inclusion of Trkiye and Kyrgyzstan is expected to further solidify and enhance the cooperation framework. The project is designed to harness the region’s energy potential, prioritizing distribution to the Turkish market before extending to Europe. Bayraktar emphasized the necessity of ensuring the Caspian Sea serves as a unifying force within the Turkic world, rather than a divisive boundary.
