Turkish Minister: Turkiye can decrease gas consumption by 10% this year

Natural gas consumption in Turkiye this year will be 10-12% less than the index of the last year, said Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez, APA-Economics reports citing Turkish press.

 

The Minister noted that the share of renewable energy in the generation of electricity in Turkiye is high.

 

He also added that TurkStream which provides gas from Russia to Turkiye, South and South-Eastern Europe functions at close to full output power.

 

Noting that the Saros FSRU LNG (liquefied natural gas) storage and gasification facility will be commissioned in January of next year, Fatih Donmez stressed that negotiations with Oman regarding the purchase of LNG are ongoing and positive.
