Ankara: The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of the massacre that took place on February 26, 1992, in the town of Khojaly, located in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. The statement was made on X, marking the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the ministry described the atrocities committed in Khojaly as a "shameful stain on the conscience of humanity." The statement highlighted the profound grief still felt over the loss of 613 Azerbaijani civilians who were brutally killed, as well as those who were wounded, taken captive, or went missing during the tragic events.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its heartfelt sympathies, wishing Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives and extending condolences to the Azerbaijani people. The ministry emphasized that the pain of the Azerbaijani brothers and sisters continues to weigh heavily on their hearts.
