Ashgabat: Representatives of Turkmen and Romanian companies recently engaged in discussions to explore potential partnerships in the transport and logistics sectors. The meeting, which took place on November 21 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan (CCIT), aimed to enhance cooperation between the two nations in this vital area.

According to Trend News Agency, the Romanian company FAN, led by CEO Maria Staicu, participated in the talks with several Turkmen enterprises, including Eminli Maslahat, Halkara Trkmen Logistik, Zehinli oldas, and Dowerbap Ulag Merkezi. These companies are well-established in the transport and logistics sector and have existing collaborations with European partners. The meeting also saw participation from members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. Both parties expressed optimism that the discussions would pave the way for expanded bilateral cooperation in the sector.

The foundation of the transport and logistics partnership between Romania and Turkmenistan lies in several specific bilateral and multilateral mechanisms. A significant component of this cooperation is the Caspian Sea-Black Sea International Transport Corridor project, initiated in 2012. This project establishes a connection between the ports of Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan and Constan?a in Romania, with transit routes through Azerbaijan and Georgia. The operational framework for this corridor is continually advanced by the Joint Turkmen-Romanian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
