ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan — Turkmenistan is embarking on a strategic shift towards a green economy, focusing on the modernization of its national sectors and the integration of high technologies. This initiative was detailed at a recent scientific-practical conference in Ashgabat, emphasizing digital and environmentally friendly innovations as pivotal to the country’s sustainable economic development.

According to Trend News Agency, the conference titled ‘Digital and ‘green’ economy – a condition for ensuring sustainable economic development,’ highlighted the progress under the ‘Concept of development of digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025’. Key steps include bolstering the information and communication foundations across all economic sectors and advancing the digitalization of enterprises, with support from leading international experts.

The discussions at the conference stressed the importance of adopting environmentally friendly technologies. The city of Arkadag was showcased as a prime example of the successful implementation of the ‘smart city’ concept, which is designed to operate with zero environmental damage. Further elements of the strategy include transitioning to environmentally friendly vehicles, enhancing energy efficiency, and fostering eco-innovation.
