Ashgabat: Turkmenistan has proposed the development of new trade formats with Tatarstan, including the expansion of e-commerce, during a recent meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation held in Ashgabat. The meeting took place on November 20-21, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and economic integration between the two regions.

According to Trend News Agency, Maksat Kutlymyradov, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations at Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Finance and Economy, emphasized during the meeting that adopting modern trade formats and interaction models is crucial for fostering economic integration between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.

Turkmenistan’s foreign trade turnover with Tatarstan in 2024 reached approximately $40 million. The exports from Turkmenistan amounted to $9.9 million, while imports exceeded $25 million. Despite an overall trade decrease of 24 percent compared to 2023, Turkmen exports to Tatarstan saw significant growth, increasing more than sixfold from $1.6 million to $9.9 million. This upward trend has continued into the first half of 2025.
