Turkmenistan voices interest in further development of economic relations with Kazakhstan


ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan has expressed interest in further development of trade and economic relations with Kazakhstan, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said during a meeting with Kazakhstan’s newly appointed Ambassador Nurlan Nogaev, Trend reports.

‘During the discussion on trade and economic relations, President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s interest in further developing cooperation in this area. Both sides identified energy and transport as promising sectors, agreeing that the vast natural resources and favorable geographical features of the two countries create opportunities for mutually beneficial projects in these fields,’ the statement notes.

Special attention was also given to the positive nature of cooperation between the two countries within authoritative international and regional organizations such as the UN, OSCE, and OECD, as well as within the CIS.

In this context, the successful coordination of efforts through regional mechanisms, particularly the Consultative Meeting of He
ads of State of Central Asia and the new cooperation format, Central Asia Plus, was highlighted.

Concluding the meeting, Nogaev assured Serdar Berdimuhamedov that he would contribute to the further development of traditionally friendly relations and the comprehensive expansion of fruitful cooperation.
