Budapest: Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, H.E. L¡szl³ K¶v©r, welcomed a TURKPA delegation led by Secretary General Ambassador Ramil Hasan. L¡szl³ K¶v©r expressed his appreciation for the visit and congratulated Hasan on his election and commencement of his tenure as Secretary General of TURKPA, wishing him success in his responsibilities. K¶v©r was pleased to welcome Hasan to the Hungarian Parliament for the first time.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Secretary General conveyed greetings from TURKPA member parliaments and appreciated Hungary’s continued engagement. He highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the Magyar and Turkic peoples. The discussions covered upcoming tasks, the 2026 working plan, and Hungary’s role in fostering cooperation between European institutions and TURKPA. The Secretary General emphasized the ongoing work under Kazakhstan’s Chairmanship and expressed interest in developing cooperation with Hungary.
Both parties noted the dynamic relations between Hungary and the Turkic states. Hungary’s active engagement since becoming an observer in 2014 and its support for the Organization of Turkic States were highlighted. The Secretary General appreciated Hungary’s participation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s 23rd Autumn Session and emphasized the importance of Hungary’s involvement in future meetings.
The Secretary General proposed new cooperation formats inspired by the ‘OTS+’ concept, enhancing synergies between intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary structures. He suggested expanding interactions among parliamentary committees and expert groups within TURKPA’s Permanent Commissions.
Speaker K¶v©r expressed gratitude for the briefing on TURKPA’s initiatives and future plans. He reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to cooperation and invited the Secretary General to the Kurultaj in 2026, a significant cultural event in Hungary.
Concluding the meeting, the Secretary General conveyed best wishes for Hungary’s parliamentary elections in April 2026 and expressed confidence in the growing cooperation between Hungary and TURKPA. A guided parliamentary tour was organized for the TURKPA delegation, highlighting the iconic Hungarian Parliament Building and its significance as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
