UK Ambassador Expresses Interest in Supporting Nakhchivan’s Green Energy Development

Nakhchivan:British Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Duncan Norman, has expressed the United Kingdom's interest in supporting the development of green energy in Nakhchivan. During his visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the ambassador discussed the potential for cooperation in several areas, prominently featuring infrastructure and green energy.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Ambassador Norman highlighted four main areas of cooperation between the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan, including Nakhchivan. These areas include infrastructure, particularly railways, where the UK aims to provide expertise in project management, railway modernization, and signaling systems. The ambassador also emphasized the UK's interest in advancing Nakhchivan's green energy initiatives.

Ambassador Norman, who has held the position for six months, noted that this visit to Nakhchivan follows his initial visit to Garabagh. During his time in Nakhchivan, he met with the Representative Plenipotentiary of the President of Azerbaijan and local leadership. His itinerary included visits to the railway station and various cultural sites, such as palaces and museums.

The ambassador noted that Nakhchivan's climate, with approximately 250 sunny days a year, makes it an advantageous location for solar energy development. This natural advantage positions energy as a significant focus within the cooperative efforts between the UK and Nakhchivan.
