UK and Azerbaijan Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Baku:President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met with Lord Anas Sarwar, the UK's Minister of State for Trade, to discuss enhancing cooperation between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Lord Anas Sarwar delivered a letter from UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, highlighting the significance placed on the evolving partnership with Azerbaijan. President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the letter and acknowledged the importance of the ongoing collaboration.

The meeting also touched on the recent visit by Lord Vernon Coaker, UK Minister of State in the Ministry of Defence, to Azerbaijan. This visit, along with others, was seen as indicative of the strategic nature of UK-Azerbaijan relations. The 8th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation, recently held in Baku, was noted for providing a platform to address various economic issues.

Discussions between President Aliyev and Lord Sarwar covered potential cooperation in energy, trade, economy, business, security, defense, data centers, artificial intelligence, agriculture, and education. Both sides expressed a commitment to further strengthening ties in these areas.
