Baku: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has extended his congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Zelensky's message highlighted the growing role and prestige of Azerbaijan in regional and international affairs. He emphasized Azerbaijan's dynamic development as a key participant in regional cooperation across the energy, logistics, and economic sectors.
The message also underscored the strategic nature of the relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Zelensky expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's steadfast support during Ukraine's challenging times, noting the humanitarian and energy assistance provided by Azerbaijan. He particularly appreciated Azerbaijan's contributions to the reconstruction of the city of Irpin and the implementation of rehabilitation and health programs for Ukrainian children, viewing these actions as manifestations of solidarity and mutual respect.
Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's support for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of states within their internationally recognized borders. He expressed confidence that these principles would continue to underpin stability and security in the Black Sea-Caspian region.
The Ukrainian President also expressed optimism about the potential for further cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, particularly in the energy, logistics, transport connectivity, infrastructure, and security sectors. He noted that amid global transformations in energy and supply chain routes, the role of both nations in ensuring regional interconnectivity is poised to grow. Zelensky expressed his belief that the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership would continue to strengthen for the benefit of both nations and their peoples.
