Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency will achieve good results, said Marcos Neto, UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of Bureau for Policy and Programme Support, APA reports.

In a recent post shared on UNDP’s X account, M. Neto noted that new goals should be defined for financing the fight against climate change at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

According to him, trillions of dollars are needed for the transition to green energy.

“To achieve our goals in this regard, a robust financing system must be agreed upon at the COP29 summit in Baku this November. As the UNDP, we would like to support the government of Azerbaijan and the entire international community should help the COP presidency to achieve the goal. This is a very important point. I believe that Azerbaijan’s COP Presidency will be able to achieve good results.’
