Baku: UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed expressed her gratitude to the government and people of Azerbaijan for their high-level hosting of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), as reported by APA. During her speech at the forum's closing ceremony, she acknowledged Azerbaijan's efforts in organizing the event and highlighted the significance of the discussions held.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mohammed emphasized the reconstruction efforts in Karabakh and other territories, noting that the reintegration of communities and restoration of infrastructure are key to transforming these regions into hubs of social solidarity, cultural development, and economic growth. She also praised Azerbaijan's 'Year of Urban Planning and Architecture 2026' initiative for bringing governance issues to the forefront of the global agenda, while maintaining a balance between ancient traditions and modern methodologies.

Mohammed pointed out the growing challenges posed by climate change and urbanization pressures worldwide. She extended her gratitude to UN-Habitat and UN system staff for their professionalism and dedication in successfully organizing the forum, underscoring the critical role cities play in shaping the realities of people's lives.
