Geneva: UN official Sopio Kiladze, Chairperson of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC), emphasized the critical role of states in safeguarding children's rights during a conference focused on the protection of children in the digital environment and international cooperation. Kiladze stressed that achieving sustainable outcomes for children is unattainable without government leadership, which must be complemented by collaboration with international organizations, the private sector, civil society, academia, and children themselves.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Kiladze underscored the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child as the primary mechanism for international monitoring of children's rights. The Committee is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols, which have already been ratified by 196 States, signifying a global commitment to upholding the rights and welfare of children worldwide.
