The issue of food security is of strategic importance for all countries. Because food security is an integral part of overall national security. Under the guarantee of food security is meant the satisfaction of the country’s needs for food products, food, drinking water, mainly through domestic production and partly through imports, provided that they are of high quality, sustainable, accessible to all and stored in reserve an additional 20% .

I should note that most developed countries have done significant work to address issues of food security. Thus, these countries have achieved a high level of organization of the production of food products and agricultural products. Recently, the issue of food security has been at the center of attention of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). In order to reduce the dependence of their food and nutritional needs on external factors, they are implementing reforms in the agrarian sector and have made progress in a number of areas through the adoption of programs for the current, medium and long term periods. In Azerbaijan, the situation is somewhat different. Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, in a recent interview with REAL TV, said that “as a result of the agrarian policy pursued by the state in recent years, including through state support for farmers, the level of provision for a number of products has increased significantly: “Among the products that we provide well yourself, you can especially note the fruits and vegetables. For example, Azerbaijan provides itself with potatoes by 90%, and is also an exporter of potatoes. Self-sufficiency will soon reach 100%. As for other food products, our country provides itself with 90% of beef, and almost 100% of mutton. Self-sufficiency for all categories of meat is about 85%” .Details
