Baku: UNITAC is actively engaged in supporting countries and cities in the development of smart city strategies, as stated by Aline Machado Da Matta, the Head of the UN-Habitat Geneva Office and the United Nations Innovation Technology Accelerator for Cities (UNITAC). She made these remarks during the event titled 'Smart Cities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Arab Region,' which was part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, UNITAC's primary focus is on creating open, transparent, and participatory digital governance tools. Aline Machado Da Matta highlighted that these tools are primarily used in geographic mapping, spatial analysis, and data visualization. The organization aims to support countries, regional governments, and cities in developing not only smart city strategies but also digital transformation and artificial intelligence strategies.

Aline Machado emphasized that the main objective of these efforts is to enhance preparedness, accessibility, and adaptation opportunities for technological development. The initiative aims to foster a collaborative environment that enables regions to effectively implement and benefit from digital advancements.
