Vienna: “Today, we reaffirm our commitment to the fight against corruption from this platform,” proclaimed Brigitte Strobel-Shaw, Chief of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), during the opening of the 6th Plenary Meeting of the United Nations Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities – the GlobE Network.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Strobel-Shaw emphasized the significance of the GlobE Network as a crucial platform in the global fight against corruption. She highlighted that “corruption knows no borders; it hides in legislative loopholes,” underscoring the need for comprehensive strategies to tackle the issue. During her speech, Strobel-Shaw called for the implementation of practical strategies, the strengthening of trust, and the establishment of effective partnerships among global authorities.
The GlobE Network meeting serves as a venue for defining legislative priorities and building connections among relevant authorities, as noted by Strobel-Shaw. It aims to foster collaboration and enhance the global response to corruption, which poses a persistent threat to economic and social development worldwide.
