US Dollar Dominates SOFAZ Investment Portfolio, Surpassing 70%

Baku: As of December 31, 2025, the US dollar comprised 70.4% of the investment portfolio of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ). This marks an increase of 3.9 percentage points from the 66.5% share recorded at the beginning of the year on December 31, 2024.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, SOFAZ's annual report for the previous year revealed that the euro accounted for 17.5% of the Fund's investment portfolio. The British pound, Chinese yuan, Japanese yen, and other currencies made up 4.9%, 2.2%, 1.3%, and 3.7% of the portfolio, respectively.

During the reporting period, SOFAZ's total investment portfolio saw a significant increase, reaching $73,539.7 million, which represents a 22.5% growth compared to the start of the year. The distribution of investments among various currencies was detailed in the report, with the US dollar holdings amounting to $51,772.4 million.

The euro portion of the portfolio was valued at pound 10,926.5 million, while the British pound holdings totaled £2,659.3 million. Investments in the Chinese yuan and Japanese yen were reported at CNY 11,447.5 million and JPY 150,938.9 million, respectively. Other currencies accounted for $2,703 million of the portfolio.

Furthermore, the report indicated that gold investments represented $28,063.2 million, making up 38.2% of SOFAZ's US dollar portfolio.
