US Embassy in Azerbaijan Commemorates 9/11, Acknowledges Azerbaijani Support

BAKU - The US Embassy in Azerbaijan recently held a memorial service to honor the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks, expressing gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support during the tragic events.

According to Trend News Agency, during the commemoration, US Ambassador Mark Libby and embassy staff paid tribute to the 2,977 individuals who lost their lives in the attacks. "Today, Ambassador Mark Libby and US Embassy staff gathered to remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost in the 9-11 attacks in New York. The United States will always appreciate how Azerbaijan stood by our side and offered its assistance and support during this tragic moment in our history," stated a publication on the embassy's official social media page.

The attacks, which occurred on September 11, 2001, resulted in the deaths of 2,977 people, including 246 passengers on the hijacked airplanes and 2,755 individuals in the buildings targeted by the terrorists.

This gesture of remembrance underscores the enduring partnership and mutual support between the United States and Azerbaijan during critical moments in history.
