US, Turkmenistan Discuss Collaborative Efforts to Reduce Methane Emissions


ASHGABAT: The United States and Turkmenistan are focusing on climate change as a primary area for bilateral cooperation, with an emphasis on reducing methane emissions. This was the main topic of discussion during a meeting between Turkmenistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov and Mark Cameron, Director of the Central Asian Department of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs of the US Department of State.

According to Trend News Agency, the meeting involved an exchange of perspectives on the current and prospective state of bilateral relations. The two nations identified several key areas for partnership, including political cooperation, trade and economic connections, and humanitarian efforts, with climate change being a central focus.

The discussions concluded with both parties underscoring the importance of strengthening a mutually beneficial and constructive dialogue, which they see as crucial to advancing their shared goals in addressing climate issues.
