USAID representative to visit Azerbaijan

Ambassador Erin E. McKee, USAID Assistant Administrator for the Bureau of Europe and Eurasia, will visit Azerbaijan on November 4 as a part of his regional trip to the South Caucasus.

The U.S. Embassy in Baku reports that McKee will be accompanied on the trip by Dr. Alexander Sokolovsky, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau of Europe and Eurasia.

McKee’s agenda includes a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture to discuss USAID’s partnership issues with the Government of Azerbaijan and transportation routes with the director general of the “Port of Baku”.

Note that McKee will also meet with women leaders and entrepreneurs on women’s economic empowerment.

McKee will lay flowers on Shehid Alley and honor those who died in the Karabakh wars.

During the meetings, McKee is expected to emphasize U.S. continued support for Azerbaijani independence and lasting peace in the South Caucasus, as well as USAID’s commitment to expanding participation of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and foreign trade partners, improving the economic status of women, and enhancing Azerbaijan’s role in regional trade and alleviating food insecurity.
