Tashkent: Uzbekistan and China have engaged in discussions to strengthen their partnership in the pharmaceutical sector, focusing on expanding local production and developing investment projects. The talks were held between representatives from Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and a delegation from China’s Xinjiang Pharmaceutical Administration, led by Director General Sui Yang.

According to Trend News Agency, the meeting aimed at increasing the turnover of pharmaceutical products and raw materials, as part of efforts to deepen collaboration within the industry. Both sides expressed their readiness to continue cooperation and further develop an active dialogue to implement the agreed initiatives.

The Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, established in 2017, is a government body in Uzbekistan dedicated to advancing the country’s pharmaceutical sector. Its primary goals include formulating strategies to promote industry growth, ensuring the accessibility of affordable, high-quality pharmaceuticals and medical products, and overseeing their production, importation, and distribution.

Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and China surpassed $14 billion last year. Since the beginning of 2025, trade has grown by 23 percent, highlighting the strengthening economic ties and reaffirming China’s role as a key and reliable partner for Uzbekistan.
