Tashkent: Uzbekistan and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) have inked a pivotal three-year cooperation program aimed at facilitating non-sovereign financing for projects spearheaded by Japanese companies within Uzbekistan. This significant agreement was formalized during a meeting between Uzbek Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov and JBIC Chairman Tadashi Maeda.
According to Trend News Agency, the discussions also encompassed a meeting between Kudratov and representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The parties involved approved a strategic program intended to foster new projects in key areas. These include the development of engineering personnel, the establishment of an industrial technopark, and the initiation of the “One Territory – One Product” program, which aims to impart entrepreneurship skills to the local population.
During the closing days of October, specifically from the 29th to the 31st, Kudratov conducted a series of high-lev
el meetings and negotiations in Tokyo. These engagements included discussions with officials, leaders of financial institutions, and executives from major Japanese companies. The focus was on addressing urgent matters concerning Uzbek-Japanese trade, economic, and financial-technical cooperation. Concrete strategies were devised to enhance industrial collaboration and boost trade volume across various economic sectors.
The visit underscored the strong confidence that Japanese government and business sectors have in Uzbekistan’s investment climate. It also highlighted their eagerness to engage in investment projects and build direct partnerships with Uzbek entrepreneurs.
