Uzbekistan Begins Early Voting for Upcoming Parliamentary Elections


TASHKENT: Early voting for the parliamentary election in Uzbekistan commenced today, facilitating those unable to participate on the official election day scheduled for October 27.

According to Trend News Agency, the provision for early voting, which started today, caters to electors who will not be able to cast their votes on the main election day. This early voting period is set to continue until October 23. During weekdays, the polling stations will operate from 9:00 to 18:00 local time (GMT+5), and during weekends, the hours will be from 11:00 to 17:00. Additionally, Uzbek citizens residing abroad can vote at foreign polling stations located in diplomatic and other representations of Uzbekistan, which will also adhere to the 9:00 to 18:00 schedule based on the local time of the host country.

The upcoming elections will see the selection of deputies to regional, city, and district councils, as well as members of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan. Several parties are in
the fray for these elections, including the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Democratic Party of National Revival, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, and the Adolat Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan.
