Uzbekistan Explores Rail Localization with Swiss Stadler Rail


TASHKENT—In a significant move toward enhancing its railway infrastructure, Uzbekistan has entered discussions with Swiss-based Stadler Rail to explore the localization of rail products within the country.



According to Trend News Agency, the discussions were held during a meeting between Uzbek Transport Minister Ilhom Mahkamov and Alexander Luft, Chairperson of Stadler Rail for CIS countries. The meeting focused on various aspects of potential cooperation such as the acquisition of electric trains and the training of Uzbek specialists in maintenance services.



During the negotiations, representatives from Stadler Rail showcased the company’s expertise in the construction and maintenance of high-comfort passenger cars across different market segments. The talks concluded with both sides agreeing to conduct a detailed examination of Stadler Rail’s capabilities to meet the specific needs of Uzbekistan’s passenger railroad network, including an analysis of the company’s pricing policies for each production and service segment in the CIS region.



Stadler Rail, noted for its contributions to the modernization of railway transport, aims to enhance the quality of railway transportation in Uzbekistan and introduce innovative solutions to the country’s railway infrastructure.
