Uzbekistan Faces Decline in Electricity Production Through July 2024

TASHKENT — Uzbekistan’s electricity production experienced a decline in the first seven months of 2024, with a total output of 42.8 billion kWh, according to the latest figures.

According to Trend News Agency, as reported by Trend, this marks a 5.6 percent decrease from the 45.2 billion kWh produced during the same period in 2023. Despite the overall decline, there was a notable increase in monthly production, with July 2024 seeing a rise to 6 billion kWh from 5.7 billion kWh in June 2024.

This downturn in electricity output contrasts with the overall growth in industrial production across the country, which saw enterprises manufacturing products valued at 435.2 trillion soums ($34.5 billion) from January through July 2024, up 26.3 percent from the previous year. Specifically, the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning sectors contributed 34 trillion soums ($2.7 billion) to this total.
