TASHKENT: Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover has reached $48.2 billion from January through September 2024, marking a 7.7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth in trade is indicative of the country’s expanding economic activities and its increasing engagement with major trade partners.

According to Trend News Agency, data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency reveals that the country’s exports for the first nine months of this year amounted to $19.7 billion, while imports reached $28.4 billion. The trade turnover with China topped the list at $9 billion, with Russia following closely at $8.6 billion. Kazakhstan also played a significant role, with a trade turnover of $3 billion.

In terms of regional trade distribution within Uzbekistan, the city of Tashkent led with a trade turnover of $18.6 billion, followed by the Tashkent region at $4.2 billion and the Andijan region at $3 billion. This regional breakdown highlights Tashkent’s central role in the nation’s trade activities.

The
report also highlights that Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover from January through August 2024 was $42.7 billion, a 6.7 percent increase year-on-year. During this period, exports were recorded at $17.3 billion, while imports stood at $25.3 billion, underscoring the consistent upward trend in the nation’s trade activities.
