Baku: September 18, 2025, marked a significant milestone in the world of music as the 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli's birth was celebrated. Hajibeyli, a renowned composer, conductor, musicologist, publicist, playwright, educator, public figure, and People's Artist of the USSR, is recognized for founding modern professional musical art in Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the global importance of Uzeyir Hajibeyli's work was highlighted in a discussion with Soviet and Russian composer, musicologist, and Doctor of Arts, Professor Alexander Maklygin. Professor Maklygin reflected on Hajibeyli's legacy, noting that his work opened new artistic avenues for his culture and influenced the development of various Turkic musical traditions in the 20th century.

Hajibeyli's approach to blending academic music traditions with folk elements provided a robust framework for the evolution of Turkic musical practices, especially during the development of their professional national art. Professor Maklygin emphasized the significance of Hajibeyli's creative strategies, citing the example of the premiere of "Koroglu," which inspired translations of the opera into numerous Turkic languages and led to pivotal productions in national republics.
