On July 17-19, the next Vaqif Poetry Days will be held in Azerbaijan’s Shusha under the organization of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Culture told APA.
The poetry celebrations will see participation of officials, figures of literature, culture and science, as well as poets and writers from Turkic republics who are visiting the country in connection with the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union.
Note that on January 14, 1982, in Shusha, with the participation of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, a grand opening ceremony of the mausoleum of the great poet and statesman Molla Panah Vagif (1717-1797) and the Poetry House took place. It was during this event that Heydar Aliyev issued instructions for the organization of Vagif Poetry Days by supporting the initiative of Azerbaijan’s literary figures. The holiday of literature and arts was first organized in July 1982.
