Baku: During the January-November 2025 period, Azerbaijan saw a significant rise in car imports, with a total of 104,404 vehicles valued at approximately 1 billion 998 million 854 thousand US dollars entering the country.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this marks a substantial increase compared to the same period in 2024, with the number of imported cars growing by 25.9%, equivalent to an additional 21,478 units. The financial implication of this surge was an increase in value by 19.5%, or 325.6 million dollars, as compared to the previous year’s figures where 82,926 cars worth 1 billion 673 million 213.9 thousand US dollars were imported.
The data also highlights a notable decline in the import of fully electric vehicles, with only 1,861 units imported during the reporting period, reflecting a 35.2% decrease from the previous year. Meanwhile, hybrid cars have shown significant import activity, with 58,471 units worth 1 billion 130.3 million US dollars brought into Azerbaijan.
It is important to note that starting January 1 of the following year, Azerbaijan will implement a value-added tax (VAT) on the import and sale of hybrid and electric passenger cars, which may influence future import volumes and trends.
