About 1500 people including children are working with Oscar Oliveras to create a mega mural by gluing the colorful plastic bottle caps to a wall in Venezuela’s capital.

Oliveras said the plastic caps were brought by the community to help make the mural displaying the edges of two enormous, blue-winged macaws in Guatire, 42 kilometers (26 miles) east of Caracas.

The 25-year-old stated that people started to recycle their caps thanks to this mural.

“If you visit the stores, restaurants, malls, you will see that the stores they have their own bins to start recycling their caps and bring them here to the mural,” said Oliveras.

“I began to feel that Venezuela could really, with this type of work, be the protagonist of an artistic, ecological or even community movement on a global level, they are unprecedented,” he added.
