Baku:King Frederik X of Denmark awarded the Order of the Elephant to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam. This honor, the highest-ranked in Denmark, is typically reserved for members of the Royal Family and foreign heads of state.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the presentation took place during President Lam's state visit to Denmark. President Lam expressed his deep emotion upon receiving the Order and dedicated the honor to the Vietnamese people and generations of Vietnamese and Danish individuals who have fostered the friendship between the two nations over the past 55 years.

He emphasized that the award symbolizes the enduring friendship and the responsibility to preserve and enhance the legacy created by both countries. The Order's presentation coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark, marking a significant political and diplomatic milestone.

Since establishing diplomatic ties, Vietnam and Denmark have developed a strong foundation of friendship, evolving into a Comprehensive Partnership in 2013 and a Green Strategic Partnership in 2023. The Order of the Elephant's presentation highlights the achievements of bilateral cooperation and strengthens the bonds between the leaders and people of both nations.
