Visa VP Highlights Azerbaijan as Key Market for Digital Payment Expansion

Baku: ‘Azerbaijan is a strategic market for the development of digital payments, and we are witnessing strong growth in cashless transactions here,’ said Cristina Doros, Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager for Visa CISSEE, during her speech at the ‘Fintex Summit 2025 – Financial Technologies Exhibition,’ APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Doros expressed her admiration for Azerbaijan, referring to it as a ‘favorite country’ and commended the nation’s advancements in digital payments. She noted that the summit has become an annual tradition, reflecting the significance of Visa’s collaboration with Azerbaijan. The aim is to unite stakeholders to explore opportunities for digital development and to find joint solutions, highlighting Azerbaijan’s strategic importance and the noticeable increase in cashless and digital transactions in the country.

Doros also discussed Visa’s commitment to technology and innovation as a global payment network connecting over 4 billion cardholders and 14,000 banking institutions. She stressed that these technologies only add value when implemented in local and meaningful projects, and emphasized that this is the approach being taken in Azerbaijan.
