Khankendi: An information session focused on the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) was held at Karabakh University, engaging academic staff and students in discussions on urban development. The session, part of a nationwide effort to enhance public understanding of WUF13, spotlighted its importance in shaping future urban landscapes.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Geray Zeynalli, a representative of Karabakh University, addressed attendees, emphasizing the ongoing reconstruction and development initiatives in Khankendi. He highlighted the involvement of the university's students in WUF13 as both participants and volunteers, underlining their active role in the event.

Ramiz Idrisoghlu, from the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, discussed the country's progress in urban development. He focused on the extensive reconstruction efforts in liberated areas, noting that plans for new settlements adhering to modern standards are in place. Master plans for eight cities and urban frameworks for 101 villages have been approved, reflecting a commitment to innovative urban planning.

Idrisoghlu further explained that the projects are fostering a new ecosystem based on 'smart city' and 'smart village' concepts, featuring renewable energy and green zoning. The phased return of residents to these newly developed areas is already underway, marking a significant step in the region's urban transformation.

Eldar Rasulov, Senior Manager for Content and Media Relations at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, provided a briefing on the event's agenda, encouraging academic participation. He noted that the programme is accessible both in-person and online, with details available on the official website.

The WUF13 Festival is set to continue with an evening public programme in Victory Square. Through interactive activities, educational games, and discussions, the programme aims to convey key themes like sustainable urban development and innovative city solutions to a wide audience. It will delve into WUF13's central theme and guiding ideas, fostering an inclusive dialogue on the cities of the future.
