Baku: An event titled 'WUF13 - Information Session for the Private Sector' has been held at the Baku SME House, APA reports. More than 120 entrepreneurs from various sectors, including industry, green energy, construction, waste management, transport, ICT, and finance, participated in this event, which was organized as part of preparations for the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place in Baku from May 17-22, 2026.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Anna Soave, Head of Country Programme at UN-Habitat Azerbaijan, highlighted the importance of private sector involvement in WUF13 and discussed the potential opportunities for businesses. Adil Mammadov, Executive Director of the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, announced that the event is expected to attract nearly 30,000 participants, including heads of state, municipal leaders, civil society representatives, private sector participants, and academics. He noted that approximately 400 conferences, roundtables, and meetings will be conducted over six days, alongside the Urban Expo exhibition, which has already registered representatives from 36 countries.

The session also featured speeches from Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), and Sevil Yahyayeva, Advisor to the Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO). The primary aim was to inform private sector representatives about WUF13 and the opportunities this international platform presents for businesses.

The session was held under the partnership between the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company, KOBIA, and AZPROMO. It provided participants with comprehensive information about WUF13 opportunities, particularly regarding participation in the 'Urban Expo' exhibition. Applications for the exhibition will be accepted online until March 31, 2026.
