KAZAN: Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the BRICS summit in Kazan, stressing the importance of the common security concept amid rising tensions in Ukraine. He called for efforts to prevent further escalation and urged stakeholders to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in the region.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Xi advocated for measures ensuring the influence of Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and several Asian nations in global politics. He emphasized that preventing potential wars hinges on embracing the concept of common security. The BRICS member states are expected to release a statement concerning the ongoing situation in Ukraine, underscoring the significance of collective security efforts.
