Bonn: Yalchin Rafiyev, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasized the significance of holding an event dedicated to the decline in the Caspian Sea's water level during the Bonn sessions. He highlighted that the Bonn sessions are regarded as one of the most important international platforms after the Conference of the Parties (COP), due to the diverse composition of participants and the wide range of segments represented.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this event marked the first time the issue of the Caspian Sea water level decline was addressed on such a prominent platform, initiated by Leyla Aliyeva. The session witnessed participation from representatives of both Caspian littoral states and other United Nations member states. Rafiyev pointed out the event's primary significance in drawing international attention to the Caspian Sea's issues and the environmental challenges it faces.
Furthermore, various ideas were discussed regarding potential initiatives for the Caspian Sea. These suggestions could be considered by the IDEA Public Union and the Azerbaijani government for future activities.
