103rd Anniversary of Zarifa Aliyeva Commemorated with Tribute by Azerbaijan Army

Baku: Commemorative events celebrating the 103rd anniversary of Zarifa Aliyeva, a distinguished Azerbaijani academician and ophthalmologist, were organized by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense, as reported by AZERTAC.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, a group of female servicemembers from the Azerbaijan Army paid their respects by visiting Zarifa Aliyeva's grave at the Alley of Honor. They laid a wreath and honored her memory. The memorial event, titled 'A model of service to the Motherland: The role of women in the glorious history of Azerbaijan', was held at the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev. A minute of silence was observed in remembrance of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Zarifa Aliyeva, and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the event, a video presentation highlighted Zarifa Aliyeva's life and contributions. Speakers at the event underscored her achievements not only as a renowned ophthalmologist and academician but also as an individual of exceptional moral and ethical standing. They noted her lifelong dedication to people, science, and her country, exemplifying the strength, compassion, and selflessness of Azerbaijani women.
