Baku: In 2024, a total of 14,856 natural and technogenic incidents occurred in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, leading to the loss of 83 lives and injuries to 326 individuals. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has released this information, as per an APA report.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this figure represents a decrease of 305 incidents, or 2%, compared to the year 2023. Despite the reduction in incidents, the impact on human life remains significant, with numerous casualties reported.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations highlighted the efforts of their rescue workers who managed to save 114 people from life-threatening situations. Additionally, they successfully evacuated 1,450 people from hazardous areas, underscoring the critical role of emergency response teams in mitigating the effects of such incidents.
The data underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Azerbaijan in managing both natural and technogenic crises, emphasizing the importance of continued preparedness and response strategies.
