MEXICO CITY: Sixteen individuals were killed during a violent gang clash in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero, as reported by local authorities. The conflict erupted early Thursday morning when armed men attempted to seize control of the municipality of Tecpan de Galeana, leading to a deadly confrontation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the incident began around 4:00 a.m. local time, when a group of armed men arrived in multiple vehicles. Their attempt to take control of the town resulted in a fierce battle. Residents shared posts on social media detailing the chaotic scene as gunfire erupted through the community.

Local law enforcement became involved in the conflict, leading to the deaths of two police officers and injuries to four others, as stated by Mexico’s defense ministry. The authorities responded to the attack, engaging in a prolonged standoff with the armed groups.

In the aftermath, fourteen members of the criminal groups were reportedly killed, and eleven individuals were arrested.
