President Ilham Aliyev congratulates President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on German Unity Day

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of congratulations to President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the occasion of the German Unity Day.

 

“Germany is the important partner and the friendly country for us. It is gratifying to see the dynamic development of our interstate ties, and the expansion of our collaboration in political, economic, humanitarian and other fields in the course of last decades since the establishment of our diplomatic relations,” the head of state said in his message.

 

“Currently, there are ample opportunities for further development of our mutually beneficial partnership. I believe that the active cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Germany both in bilateral format and in the framework of the European Union will continue to serve the welfare of our peoples and countries,” President Ilham Aliyev noted.

“The Korean companies successfully participate in the implementation of several projects in Azerbaijan. Today, the wide scale relief and reconstruction operations conducted in our country’s territories liberated from the occupation create favorable conditions to expand the scope of our interaction. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made a post on its Twitter account to congratulate Germany on the National Day.

 

“On the occasion of the National Day of Germany, we express our best wishes and sincere congratulations to the Government and People of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Azerbaijan’s Mine Action Agency: More than 4,064 hectares of liberated territory cleared of mines and UXOs over last month

“During the mine-clearing operations in Tartar, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil and Zangilan districts 1,695 anti-personnel and 747 anti-tank mines, as well as 1,363 unexploded ordnances (UXO) were found and neutralized from September 1 to 30,” Azerbaijan’s Mine Action Agency said in a statement.

 

“As a result, more than 4,064,06 hectares were cleared of mines and UXOs,” the agency added.

At least 83 dead after Hurricane Ian hit US state of Florida

At least 83 people have died in the wake of Hurricane Ian, which tore through the US state of Florida this week, according to Anadolu Agency.

 

The tropical storm brought flooding and destruction to southwest Florida, mostly affecting Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach and Cape Coral.

 

Tallied by NBC News, the number is feared to continue to rise.

 

In North Carolina, there were four storm-related deaths due to Ian.

 

Rescue efforts remain underway after the devastating Category 4 storm made landfall Wednesday.

 

President Joe Biden said Thursday that Hurricane Ian “could be the deadliest” in the state’s history.

 

“This could be the deadliest hurricane in Florida’s history. The numbers are still unclear, but we’re hearing early reports of what may be substantial loss of life,” Biden said from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) headquarters.

 

This week, Biden and first lady Jill Biden are expected to travel to Florida.
