Azerbaijani FM: We are witnessing a historic day in Turkmenistan

“Today we are witnessing a historic day in Turkmenistan,” said Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, APA reports.

 

The minister said that today the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkiye, and Turkmenistan met for the first time in a tripartite format. Great preparatory works were carried out on this eve, and the staff worked for quite a long time. Yesterday, separate meetings were held between the foreign ministers and the ministers of transport and energy of the three countries held separate meetings. Extensive discussions were held on each important area and final contributions were made to the preparation of the documents. Great attention has been paid to historical, friendship, brotherhood, and common religious and cultural ties between the peoples of our countries. This is the most natural basis of our being together, our joint activity,” minister said.

Working group to be established for the transportation of Turkmenistan’s gas to Europe

“Organization of Turkic States is the most important format of our cooperation. On the other side we take effective steps with Azerbaijan within the framework of various mechanisms,” said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at the press conference on Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Turkmenistan summit, APA’s Istanbul correspondent reports.

 

According to him, energy is an essential part of the cooperation among the three countries.

 

“We transport Azerbaijan’s natural gas to Europe via South Caucasus Gas Pipeline and TANAP. We are ready to take joint steps in the issue of Turkmenistan’s natural gas in a way that will benefit the three countries, and we have decided to create a working group in this regard,” Cavusoglu noted.

Russia says US Patriot systems in Ukraine would be legitimate target

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that U.S. Patriot missile defense systems would be a legitimate target for Russian strikes against Ukraine, should the United States authorize them to be delivered to support Kyiv.

 

Washington is finalizing plans to send the Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine, a decision that could be announced as soon as this week, three U.S. officials told Reuters on Tuesday.

Azerbaijani FM: Documents signed in Turkmenistan will further develop our cooperation

“High-level political dialogue exists between our countries,” said Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the press conference on the finals of Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Turkmenistan Summit, APA reports.

 

According to the minister, our relations have raised to the level of a strategic alliance by the signing of the historical Shusha Declaration between Azerbaijan and Turkiye in 2021: “At the same time, our relations with Turkmenistan are also at the level of strategic partnership. Today, there is mutually beneficial cooperation between the 3 countries at the UN, various agencies of the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Turkic States and a number of international platforms. We have had extensive discussions in this area. We will continue our work in this direction from now on.”

 

The minister brought to the attention that Azerbaijan, Turkiye, and Turkmenistan tripartite format has larger potential: “We can express with full confidence that the 5 documents signed today and the joint statement adopted will give a great impetus to the further development of our cooperation in the economic field.”

Kremlin: There is no specific agreement regarding the meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia

“There is no specific agreement regarding the tripartite meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia,” said Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskovm, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

 

He noted that there is no specific agreement on holding a tripartite meeting between Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliyev, and Nikol Pashinyan on the margins of the summit of the CIS leaders, but the leaders can hold talks within the summit.
