London:The shortlist for the 2026 Booker Prize has been unveiled, featuring six novels and highlighting both seasoned and first-time nominees.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the shortlist includes two previous winners, one previously shortlisted author, and three newcomers. The selected works are penned by England's M. John Harrison with "The End of Everything," Jamaican writer Marlon James for "The Disappearers," England's Luke Kennard with "Black Bag," English writer Rebecca Perry's "May We Feed the King," US writer Elizabeth Strout for "The Things We Never Say," and Scottish author Douglas Stuart's "John of John."

The selection was made by a judging panel chaired by Mary Beard, a classicist, writer, and broadcaster. Other judges include poet and writer Raymond Antrobus, musician and writer Jarvis Cocker, journalist and critic Rebecca Liu, and writer Patricia Lockwood, who has been previously shortlisted for the Booker Prize.

The Booker Prize remains one of the most prestigious awards in English-language literature, with a history spanning over 55 years. This year's shortlist was chosen from a longlist of 13 books, narrowed down from 163 submissions. Eligible works are fiction written in English and published in the UK or Ireland between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.

The winner of the 2026 Booker Prize will be announced in London on November 9, with the victorious author receiving £50,000. Each shortlisted author will be awarded £2,500.
