Baku: Formula 1 and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) have announced the calendar for the 2027 Formula 1 World Championship following its approval by the World Motor Sport Council, Baku City Circuit told APA. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from September 24 to 26.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the 2027 Formula 1 season will commence with the Bahrain Grand Prix from March 12 to 14, and the championship will conclude with the final race in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from December 10 to 12. The championship will feature 24 rounds across 22 countries, with an increase in the number of sprint races from six to ten. The first official pre-season tests for the season will be held at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain from February 24 to 27.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed that the 2027 calendar highlights the growing global popularity of Formula 1, with 24 Grands Prix spanning five continents. The return of Portugal and Trkiye to the calendar, along with the expansion of the sprint race program, aims to combine tradition and innovation while engaging fans. Ben Sulayem thanked all stakeholders involved in the sport for their cooperation and efforts to enhance the championship and deliver an exciting season.

Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali remarked that the 2027 calendar features some of the world's most renowned circuits and dynamic cities, setting the stage for another memorable Formula 1 season. He welcomed the return of Portugal and Trkiye to the championship and the increase in sprint races. Domenicali acknowledged the continued support of fans, FIA, teams, drivers, promoters, partners, sponsors, host cities, and volunteers who contribute to every Grand Prix.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will maintain its schedule, taking place on the same dates in both 2026 and 2027-September 24 to 26.
