Aghdara: The first resettlement took place in Hasanriz village of Aghdara, APA’s Karabakh bureau reports. Today, 91 people from 25 families have been relocated to Hasanriz village of Aghdara district. The families were presented with the keys to their new homes.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the presentation ceremony was attended by Elchin Yusubov, the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Khankendi city, Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, as well as officials from the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan and members of the press. The village has been equipped with essential utilities, including electricity, drinking water, and natural gas.

The resettlement convoy has successfully arrived in Hasanriz village, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing Great Return initiative spearheaded by President Ilham Aliyev. This initiative aims to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their original homes in liberated territories.

The first group to benefit from the resettlement consists of families who had been temporarily housed in various parts of the country, primarily in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings. In this initial phase, 25 families, comprising a total of 91 individuals, have been successfully relocated to the village.

Currently, nearly 40,000 people reside in Garabagh and Eastern Zangezur, including former internally displaced persons who have been resettled. This population also includes individuals working on ongoing projects in the region, employees from local branches of state institutions, and staff of newly reopened healthcare, education, culture, tourism, industry, and energy facilities.
