Baku: Elchin Yusubov, the President's Special Representative for Khankendi, Khojaly, and Aghdara, highlighted the significant challenges posed by mine contamination in these regions. At an event held at the Azerbaijani Pavilion during WUF13, Yusubov shared insights on the scale of contamination left behind by occupying forces.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Yusubov reported that approximately 76,000 mines and unexploded ordnance have been detected and neutralized since 2023. He indicated that this figure represents only a portion of the existing contamination. Yusubov stressed that current data and field observations suggest that demining operations will need to continue for many years.
